Hypnosis For Weight Loss – Does Hypnotherapy Work?

hypnosis for weight loss Hypnosis For Weight Loss Does Hypnotherapy Work?

If you are having difficulty losing unwanted weight, consider using hypnosis or hypnotherapy as an aid.  Hypnosis is a medically approved, safe and secure treatment for many problems and addictions, including weight loss.  It can be used by itself or with other forms of therapy to rid an individual of unwanted conditions and behaviors.

For those of us struggling to lose weight, please know it is possible to lose weight with the aid of hypnosis.

Some people are afraid of being hypnotized because they are afraid of not being in control of their body.  Not to worry.  The modern form of hypnosis for weight loss will not have you standing on your head clucking like a chicken or acting like a monkey every time the phone rings.  It is completely possible to be hypnotized for weight loss without ever being “unconscious”.

Hypnosis is a tool to be used in conjunction with good eating habits and an exercise program. Some of the advantages of hypnosis are:

  • Improved self-esteem,
  • Confidence in your ability to adopt new, positive habits which will aid you in your weight loss, and
  • Stress control.

Since weight loss depends on changing the way we think, both consciously and unconsciously, hypnosis can provide the necessary help to lose weight and keep it off.

Hypnosis is not a “cure-all” by any means.  One must use it in conjunction with other positive behaviors in order to lose weight and KEEP IT OFF.  All behavior begins in our mind.  By “suggesting” new behaviors and thoughts through hypnotism, we are then able to actually practice the behaviors and incorporate them into our everyday routine.  Normally after a specified number of sessions, you can return on an “as needed” basis to the hypnotherapist.   Also, many hypnotherapists will make tapes you can play at home to reinforce the good habits and behaviors you have acquired during your hypnosis sessions.

How Does Hypnosis For Weight Loss Work?

Hypnosis works by putting an individual into an extremely relaxed state where he or she is open to the power of the hypnotherapist’s suggestions.    The technique for weight loss as compared to smoking cessation is very similar.  The hypnotherapist uses different suggestions during the session because the behaviors are different and must be treated differently.

Hypnosis for weight loss does work, however you have to be open to it in order to reap the benefits.  One cannot just simply go through the motions.  Surveys conducted  on those who have completed a hypnosis program for weight loss show that 87% of people undergoing hypnosis for weight loss experienced reduced appetite or appetite suppression after the first visit.  However, a follow up survey conducted on the same group 6 months after completion of the program, and with no follow up visits to the hypnotherapist, fewer than 25% were still doind as well as they were after the first visit.

These buying pills online results make clear three things about hypnotherapy for weight loss:

1) It works

2) It does not work by itself

3) The results are likely to wear off after completionof the program with no follow up visits

If you are interested in hypnotism, do some research on the internet to find a reputable and licensed hypnotherapist in your area.  A website I suggest is  National Board for Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists (NBCCH).

What You Can Expect –

At your first appointment, the hypnotherapist will explain the hypnosis process to you and will most likely conduct your first session during this visit.  Your first session, separate from the consultation, will probably last a couple of hours.  After the first session, the following sessions will occur weekly and last only about 30 minutes each time.  The cost of an average session is $85, however, some hypnotherapists sell packages that include a number of visits over a specified period of time.

When each session begins your hypnotherapist will hypnotize you which means you will be in an altered state of consciousness.  While in this altered state of consciousness, your attention is more focused and you will be more receptive to suggestions made by the hypnotist.
